I am a trained Women’s Health Physician (MD, Ob/Gyn), Social Worker / Therapist (MSW/LSW), and Medical Anthropologist (MSc) with a passion for women’s mental health and social justice. I focus on perinatal mental health and trauma therapy. I am passionate about supporting women in all phases of their parenthood journeys - whether they are facing the complexities of fertility issues and conception, pregnancy, early parenthood, or loss.
I previously practiced as an Obstetrician / Gynecologist before pivoting my focus to women's mental health and emotional wellness. This shift was inspired by my patients, whose mental health needs were often not being met by traditional models of medical care delivery. My experience as a physician has taught me many things, two of the most important of which have been that the potential for emotional and physical trauma is ever-present in the path toward parenthood and that pre-existing trauma can resurface in unexpected and potentially devastating ways during this same journey.
For this reason, I have a special interest in working with clients who have experienced sexual or reproductive trauma, including birth trauma. I have specialized training and expertise working with survivors of sexual assault and of human trafficking. I also feel called to work with other healthcare providers, who can experience unique forms of trauma that stem from the nature of the profession. But most all, I love working with people - no matter their background.
I have completed formal training, or am currently pursuing ongoing formal training, in multiple therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy (ISTT). I am a Postpartum Support International Certified Perinatal Mental Health Provider (PMH-C).
I am currently focusing my clinical practice on mental health therapy in my capacity as a therapist at Reedy-Kay & Associates, contracting through my personal LLC - From Bump to Blossom Wellness.
In the future, though, I hope to combine my medical, mental health, and social services experiences into an integrated practice that takes a holistic approach to women’s healthcare.
