Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) | Director, Somatic Experiencing Association UK (SEAUK) | London
Verinder Sharma is a certified Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP) and Director of the Somatic Experiencing Association UK (SEAUK), offering online somatic therapy for trauma resolution, nervous system regulation, and recovery from chronic stress, anxiety, and burnout.
If you're exploring somatic therapy, something within you is already reaching toward healing. My work goes beyond talking therapy or trauma-informed awareness — the aim is trauma resolution, so you no longer have to manage or live around it.
Before training as an SEP, I spent fifteen years as a senior financial regulator, working across the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Financial Services Authority (FSA), and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). That background shapes how I understand chronic responsibility, performance pressure, and sustained adaptation — and why recovery often needs more than rest or insight alone. It also brings a governance-minded rigour to how I hold this work: careful pacing, clear boundaries, and an ongoing commitment to professional accountability. This combination of regulatory governance and somatic clinical training is a distinctive part of how I practise.
My clinical training includes advanced study with Dr Peter Levine, the developer of Somatic Experiencing®; Compassionate Inquiry with Dr Gabor Maté; and Voice and Presence training with Patsy Rodenburg. I've worked with a wide range of clients, including doctors, psychologists, and professionals carrying significant responsibility in their own fields. Clients often describe the work as calm, compassionate, and precise. Client testimonials are available at soulsomatictherapy.com/#testimonials.
I'm also a member of ORB (Organisation for Responsible Businesses), The Conduit, and Advaya — communities whose focus on equity, access, and community closely reflects the values behind my practice.
Somatic Experiencing® is a body-based approach to trauma resolution. Rather than analysing problems or retelling past experiences, this work supports the nervous system to regulate, reorganise, and respond with more choice over time, so the effects of stress and trauma no longer run the show. You don't need a diagnosis or a clear story to begin, curiosity and a willingness to go at your own pace are enough.
The areas below reflect where I have particular experience. In sessions themselves, we work with what's present for you now, not with labels:
Anxiety, depression, and burnout
PTSD and Complex PTSD
Early childhood and developmental trauma
Chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation
Grief and loss
Medical and surgical trauma
Addictions
All sessions are online, working well for people with busy schedules, international lives, or a preference for their own space.
